I&#8217;m Bill and here is a post for you!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>For a little while in the mid 1990s, when the irrational exuberance of the pre-popped internet bubble was filling the world with hot air, I was running my consulting business under the moniker of &#8220;ClientDog&#8221;.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3032\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3032\" style=\"width: 170px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/billcorrigan.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ClientDog-Logo.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3032\" title=\"ClientDog Logo\" src=\"https:\/\/billcorrigan.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ClientDog-Logo.gif\" alt=\"Woof!\" width=\"170\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3032\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Woof!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here is a little taste of some mid-90s advice that I think is still relevant 20 years later&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an excerpt from a &#8220;Customized Sales Solutions&#8221; webpage&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">W.I.N. from the get-go\u2122<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>&#8211; <span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">It&#8217;s the little nuances that can send customers and their wallets walking right out the door.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Many Sales and Customer Service Representatives are instructed to help customers as they mill about your store examining you goods and wares.\u00a0 What they are not told though is how, exactly,\u00a0 to do so.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">How many times have you walked into a stop and someone comes up from behind you to ask &#8220;Can I help you?&#8221;\u00a0 Hundreds?\u00a0 Thousands?\u00a0 Shoppers have come so accustomed to this question that they will default to the answer &#8220;No.&#8221; even when they may need help.\u00a0 Although well intentioned, the question has become insincere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">ClientDog has developed a winning style that increases the likelihood that your prospective customers will engage your staff in a more meaningful manner.\u00a0 Its a style best summed in the acronym &#8220;W.I.N.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong>&#8220;W&#8221; &#8211; Welcome your customers into your store.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Folks today don&#8217;t welcome each other into their homes or businesses as they once had.\u00a0 Because of this &#8220;welcome&#8221; has recaptured its uniqueness.\u00a0\u00a0 Many multi-billion dollar retail giants will have people standing at the front door just to welcome people all day long.\u00a0 You can do this, or you can just remind your staff to say &#8220;Welcome to &lt;insert your business name here&gt;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong>&#8220;I&#8221; &#8211; Introduce yourself.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When customers know an employees name it gives them a sense of familiarity and will some times even evoke a response buy them telling you their name.\u00a0 As people like to hear their own name, this is huge (but the topic for another seminar).\u00a0 It&#8217;s also very easy to do and remember to say &#8220;My name is&lt; insert your star salesperson&#8217;s name here&gt;.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong>&#8220;N&#8221; &#8211; Notify them that you are there to help.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 The question &#8220;Can I help you?&#8221; will beget the answer &#8220;probably not&#8221; in a customer&#8217;s mind.\u00a0 What you want to do is notify your customers that your sole purpose right there and right then is that you can help them and you&#8217;re the best person to do it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also a great boost to the ego to say every ten minutes &#8220;I can help you with any questions you may have with anything.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What do you think? \u00a0Still works?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For a little while in the mid 1990s, when the irrational exuberance of the pre-popped internet bubble was filling the world with hot air, I was running my consulting business under the moniker of &#8220;ClientDog&#8221;.
