\u201cSay something, I\u2019m giving up on you\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So goes the lyrics of A Great Big World\u2019s gut-wrenching and critically acclaimed ballad \u201cSay Something\u201d. If you\u2019re not familiar with the song it is a lamentation for a lost love. Performed meticulously by Ian Axel at the 2013 Victoria\u2019s Secret Fashion Show it has become a fitting theme song for L Brand\u2019s former flagship brand.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1995 the world* had their senses overloaded by a lavish annual spectacle of the world\u2019s most revered fashion models in the latest costumed lingerie and sportswear walking the runways with elaborate themed set design while varying music by leading entertainers played live or via DJ.<\/p>\n<p>As my dad would say \u201cIt was neat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you are a marketer or ever had to produce an event or show, then you could appreciate the effort that was required to pull this off.<\/p>\n<p>I put it on par with the Super Bowl, The Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Oscars, the Olympics, a Fourth of July Blue Angels Show, The Westminster Dog Show, the State of the Union Address, or the weekly production of SNL\u2026you get the drift. Spectacular spectacles.<\/p>\n<p>And just like that, its gone.<\/p>\n<p>Like space shuttle launches and Lincoln\u2019s Birthday, a staple of Americana, has been retired. We\u2019ll get over it for sure, but I was genuinely looking forward to it like I do those other spectacles. To cope I use this post as a way to vent the built-up anticipation of what I had been hoping this year\u2019s show might have been.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t going to be about what models should have been wearing what lingerie and who should have what wings and what order they would come out or who gets the fantasy bra because that would require way too much research and quite frankly it would have been a little too creepy.<\/p>\n<p>What I really looked forward to was the music. My favorite versions of my favorite songs are always the live version. Here\u2019s what I would have been hoping for while sitting on my living room sofa surrounded by family and friends.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Segment One: Hot Water<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe show would have started out loud and with high energy with Lizzo\u2019s \u201cWater Me\u201d that blends into a \u201cGood As Hell\u201d medley.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/49I6JrUnSQg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Segment Two: Lollipop<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nKeeping up with the bpm we transition into a live performance Jonas Brothers do their thing with a high energy rendition of \u201cSucker\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CnAmeh0-E-U\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Segment Three: Sweetheart<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nNo show would be complete without the almost staple appearance of Taylor Swift. This segment would have introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/valentts\/?hl=en\">Valentina Sampaio<\/a>.
