But if you look closely \u2014 really closely \u2014 you will see that Stony Brook University is also built on something far quieter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is built on recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not awards. Not titles. Not plaques on walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The steady, human act of saying:
\u201cI see what you did.\u201d<\/em>
<\/em>\u201cIt mattered.\u201d<\/em>
