Challenge: How do you keep the doors open of a tiny charity that plays a big role in a destitute part of New York City when a vast majority of their donors were channeling their donor dollars to the well deserving September 11 Fund?
WOW!! Better than I ever imagined, but as successful as I planned for. A huge success! I organized this fund raiser to raise awareness for the St. John’s Bread and Life Soup Kitchen. The charity was hard hit by a lack of funds after September 11th. I handed over a check for $2,500 from a wide range of contributors. The event was held at the St. John’s University campus at Jamaica, Queens. Being interviewed by Al Roker on the TODAY Show was a great hit. The 9 foot by 9 foot sandwich was the biggest ever at the time. As you can see from the reporting J.M. Smuckers, JIF, King Kullen, and Caravan Products contributed greatly to this event.
